The Use of Computers In The Healthcare Industry

Computers are very important in the healthcare industry. Computers can be used to keep track of a patient's medical records as well as schedule appointments. They can also use computers to keep track of a patient's vital signs. Another use can be disease surveillance. This is a computer-based surveillance system that is used to monitor the progress of ongoing disease control programs. Computers can be used by surgeons to create 3D models of organs to help them plan their surgeries. Computers are also used to keep track of patients’ prescriptions. Another use is telemedicine. This is something that became more popular during Covid. This allows patients to connect with doctors via live video chat. This has helped to reduce the cost of treatment and prognosis due to access to standard treatment. Another use of computers is computer-assisted surgery. This is more precise and reduces the risk of complications by using the computer to guide the surgical instruments. Computers are also used to see the results of X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans.

It is important for employees in this field to be computer literate because they will be surrounded by technology. Whether they are tracking a patient’s vitals, recording information in patient’s charts, or giving a patient an x-ray. The evolution of this technology over the next ten years should positively impact the healthcare industry. It should lower human error rates, allow for quicker diagnosis/creation of treatment plans, and make improvements in research, of diseases like cancer. This should also allow for improvements in surgery for shorter recovery time, less mistakes, and more precise surgeries.
